What is meant by social impact?

The Inter-organizational Committee on Guidelines and Principles for Social Assessment defines social impacts as ‘the consequences to human populations of any public or private actions that alter the ways in which people live, work, play, relate to one another, organize to meet their needs, and generally cope as members of society’. If you feel that your work has made such an impact, it may qualify you for the award!

Who can apply?

All TUM School of Management students (not just graduates) can apply with their Project Studies, Master’s or Bachelor’s theses, it they address a social problem and provide an innovative solution.
In regards to your project studies/thesis, this means that you acquire hands-on experience by working in student teams with companies or other organizations on a particular assignment. You structured the project and employ methods and theories to develop results of practical value for the organization. To determine the social impact of your project/thesis your appliation should illustrate the value the project/thesis provides to its target group and to society.

Submission requirements and deadlines

– Project summary/thesis summary (one page single spaced)
– Letter of motivation
– short video clip (max. 1 minute) illustrating the project and the social problem it addresses.
