On December 8, 2023, the research community of the TUM School of Management gathered at the Theresianum of the Technical University of Munich to celebrate this year's Research Fest.
Under the leadership of Prof. Joachim Henkel, numerous innovative ideas and the latest research results were presented and exchanged in the interdisciplinary context of our university.
As part of a poster exhibition, 31 doctoral students and postdocs from the TUM School of Management each presented one of their ongoing research projects and the TUM Management Alumni Association awarded the three best posters among all submissions.
Our dean Prof. Gunther Friedl presented it Best Poster Awards 2023 to the following winners:

- Place: Stefan Weik for his research on “The Startup Performance Disadvantage in Europe: Evidence from Startups Migrating to the US”
- Place: Konstantin Wink, Fabian Schäfer, Santiago Gallino, Prof. Alexander Hübner from TUM Campus Straubing for “Fresh Perspectives: The influence of store attributes on food waste of perishable goods in food retail”
- Place: Christina Liepold, Pedro Amorim, Prof. Maximilian Schiffer on “Combinatorial Auction Design for Networked Returns Mitigating Externalities in Online Retail Marketplaces”
In addition, scientists from several academic departments presented their insightful research, including topics such as:
- “Individual Perceptions of Business Groups after Incidents of Wrongdoing: Exploring the Alignment of Impression Management Tactics” by Prof. Melanie Richards,
- “Early Child Care, Maternal Labor Supply, and Gender Equality: A Randomized Controlled Trial” by Prof. Philipp Lergetporer from the TUM Campus Heilbronn,
- “Where should I charge my car? – From User-centric Solutions to System-centric Improvements” by Prof. Maximilian Schiffer and
- “The Entrepreneurial Finance Foodchain: Collaboration, Communities and Success” by Prof. Reiner Braun.
The Research Fest 2023 at the Theresianum at TUM was not only a platform for the exchange of ideas, but also a stage for recognizing and honoring outstanding achievements in research. We are already looking forward to next year, when the festival will once again bring together scientists, students and industry partners to present and discuss the latest developments and innovations.
